NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

June 10, 2026

Have an amazing summer!

Today we have some bittersweet news to share as we recognize two outstanding educators who are retiring after decades of dedicated service to our school and community.

After 35 years of teaching, Mr. Tim Meinzen is retiring. Mr. Meinzen has taught history and publications, and has been a driving force behind many positive initiatives on campus. He led the Recycling Club and the Garden Club, personally handled the landscaping for our new high school building, and is responsible for the beautiful new sign that welcomes everyone to Pleasant Hill High School.

After 34 years of service, Mr. Steve Smith is also retiring. Mr. Smith taught wood shop and math, and was a longtime coach of football and baseball. A member of the Oregon Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame, he has played a major role in the development of countless young men, helping them grow into successful adults. He also built dugouts, sheds, benches, and much of the physical infrastructure we see and use every day across our campus.

Both Mr. Meinzen and Mr. Smith will be sorely missed. Their commitment, leadership, and countless contributions have left a lasting legacy at Pleasant Hill High School and in our community.

Please take a moment today to seek them out, thank them for their many years of dedication, and wish them all the best in retirement. We are truly grateful for everything they have done for our students and our school.

As we wrap up the school year, please take a few minutes to check your backpack, locker, bedroom, car, or any other place a library book might be hiding.

If you have any library books still checked out, please return them to the library as soon as possible. Please note that overdue or unreturned library books may result in fines or replacement fees. Returning your materials now is the easiest way to avoid any charges and close out your account for the school year. Happy reading, and have a great end to the school year!
